Fall 2026 first-session courses are now available in Canvas. Classes beginning in a later session will be available 50 days before the class start date.

If you’re new to teaching in our Canvas system, please review our Teacher’s Beginning of Course Checklist. Complete these steps before your course begins. (And remember to review our Teacher’s End of Course Checklist later on!)

Digital Accessibility

Thank you for ensuring your courses are digitally accessible!

Please scan your course with UDOIT to identify and correct accessibility issues. Enroll in our Digital Accessibility Training for Instructors for more information.

Updates This Semester

There are also some changes in Canvas you should know about.

BibliU

Starting this term, UW-Superior is partnering with BibliU to offer course materials and textbooks. For more information about BibliU, visit Getting Started With BibliU.

BibliU is available in all Canvas courses by default. Please do not hide the BibliU link in your course Navigation menu if you adopt a textbook.

For more information, visit How to Use BibliU Course Materials in Your Canvas Course.

Disable Follett "My Materials"

Upcoming classes will no longer utilize Follett for course materials. Please hide the "My Materials" link in your Canvas course navigation menu.

Note: If your students are completing work in a past course that used Follett services, they may still need the My Materials link, so you shouldn't hide it there.

Canvas Portfolio

We’ve enabled the new Canvas Portfolio tool, which replaces ePortfolio (which will be permanently disabled soon). If you need to preserve any data in ePortfolio, please download it now, and add it into the new Canvas Portfolios tool:

How do I download the contents of my Canvas native ePortfolio?

If you require students create or update a portfolio in Canvas, please update your assignments and course requirements to utilize Canvas Portfolio (not ePortfolio).

Canvas Outcomes

Do you teach courses that are part of a Graduate program? The Graduate Learning Goals are now available in the Canvas Outcomes tool, if you'd like to use them in your course rubrics. For more information, visit How to Use Canvas Outcomes to Assess Student Learning.
