Canvas - Spell Checking in Canvas

You can use your browser's spell checking function to improve text-entry in some parts of Canvas.

Is There a Spell Check Feature in Canvas?

Canvas does not have a built-in spell checker, but some parts of Canvas will show your browser’s spell checker if it’s enabled. These browser spell checkers won’t work in all areas of Canvas (e.g., some areas of SpeedGrader).

You can enable the spell check function in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox using the directions below.

[Apple Safari is not officially supported by Canvas. It may work, but we recommend using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to complete important work in Canvas, such as quiz attempts or assignment submissions.]

Enable Spell Check in Mozilla Firefox

Firefox automatically checks the spelling of text boxes containing more than one line. Visit the guide below for more information about using the spell checker, disabling spell-checking, correcting misspelled words, and adding dictionaries.
