If you have a UW-Superior email address, you can use your existing UW-Superior login credentials to access Canvas, do not create a new account. Instead, please login to Canvas from our main Canvas login page here and disregard the following steps.

If you don’t have a UW-Superior email address, but created a Canvas account in our system in the past, you’ll have a chance later in this process to login with that existing account.

Step One: Visit the UW System Canvas Landing Page

To begin, open uws-ce.instructure.com in your browser. Google Chrome on a desktop or laptop computer will work best with our Canvas system.

You should see a University of Wisconsin System login page. Regardless of how you’ll be using Canvas, please click the UW Continuing Education Student button, under “Please select your login type:”.

Step Two: Login or Create a Canvas Account

You should now see a Universities of Wisconsin branded login page. The next step will differ depending on whether you have an existing Canvas account or need to create one.

I don’t have a Canvas account yet:

To create your Canvas account, click the Need a Canvas Account? link on the top-right of the page.

If you think you might already have a Canvas account, click the Forgot Password? link below the “Login” and “Password” box to check if there’s already an account associated with your email address.

I already have a Canvas account:

If you created a Canvas account in the past for a UW-Superior course, please use that existing account to login now.

Enter the username you selected in the “Login” box and your corresponding password in the “Password” box. Click Log In to login to Canvas.

If you don’t remember your password, click the Forgot Password? link below the “Login” and “Password” box to reset it.

Step Three: Register on the Sign Up Page

If you clicked the Need a Canvas Account? link at the last step, you should now see a Canvas “Sign up now” page.

Regardless of how you’ll be using Canvas, click the I’m a Student button. This will pop up a “Student Signup” panel.

In the “Join Code” box, enter the six-digit join code shared with you earlier. If you don’t have a join code, and need to access Canvas, please email canvas@uwsuper.edu.

Enter your first and last name in the “Full Name” box, your preferred email address in the “Username” box, and a password of your choosing in the “Password” and “Confirm Password” boxes. Please note this password in a secure location as you’ll need it to login to Canvas later.

Finally, click the Start Learning button.

Final Steps

This process should have created your Canvas account and logged you into your first UW-Superior Canvas course. Please check-in with whomever asked you to sign up for Canvas and shared the join code; they may need to complete additional steps depending on how you will be using Canvas.
