UW-Superior Digital Technology Map

This guide introduces common digital tools at UW-Superior. You can find information on how each tool is used and where to get help.

UW-Superior Academic Planning Tools

These are some of the tools you will use to make appointments with advisors and other student support staff, access your academic information, and register for courses. All of these tools can be accessed through OKTA My Apps through the Campus Login page. Both students taking classes on campus and students who only access courses online will use these tools.

What is E-Hive?

E-Hive is our campus Student Information Center. All your official academic records are stored in E-hive and that information is shared with other systems as needed. For example, after you register for classes in E-Hive your enrollments are sent to Canvas to grant you access to your courses.

What is Kaltura "My Media"?

Kaltura is a media storage, creation and sharing service used at UW-Superior. "My Media" is the name of the Kaltura tool in Canvas that displays your media library.

Why do I use My Media?

  • Create and edit videos
  • Store audio and visual assignments
  • Easily submit your creations to Canvas

Many courses request that students create and submit videos as part of their course work. Although Canvas has some built-in options for media creation and storage, there are limitations to how much you can store in Canvas. Kaltura has no limit on how much content you can create and store as long as they are being used in a course.

Where can I get help?

First, read this detailed introduction to Kaltura My Media and how to use it to support your Canvas coursework: How to Create and Manage Audio and Video Using Kaltura My Media

If you need assistance, please reach out to canvas@uwsuper.edu to connect with the Canvas team at UW-Superior.

Canvas Support, available via the “Help” menu in Canvas, cannot offer help with Kaltura My Media because it is a third-party service we license. You can access Kaltura through Canvas, but it is not a built-in Canvas tool.
