Canvas - How to Enroll in a Continuing Education Course Using a Catalog Listing

This document demonstrates how UW-Superior students can access their Continuing Education course via a Canvas Catalog listing.

Visit Your Canvas Catalog Listing Page

To begin, visit the Canvas Catalog link the Continuing Education staff shared with you. This link should begin with uwsuper.catalog.instructure.com/courses and will correspond with the course you’ve registered for.

On the course listing page, click the Enroll Now button.

Create an Account or Login to Canvas

On the “Create an Account” page, you can either create a new account, or sign in with your existing account if you have one. If this is your first time accessing a UW-Superior Continuing Education course hosted in Canvas, you'll need to create a Canvas account.

Step One: Enter Your Account Details

To create a new account, enter your name and email address, agree to the Acceptable Use Policy, and complete the reCAPTCHA verification. Finally, click the Register New Account button.

If you do not have an existing account, enter your details in the "Create an Account" page.

Step Two: Enroll in Your First Canvas Course

Now that you’ve created an account, you can complete your enrollment. At the “Checkout” screen, click the blue Enroll button.

Canvas will take a few moments to process your enrollment. At the “Ready to Begin” screen, you should see a message indicating you’ve been successfully enrolled.

Click the Catalog Student Dashboard link or the Go to Courses button to proceed.

Step Three: Confirm Your Registration Email

On the Catalog Student Dashboard page, you should see an alert that says to "Please check your email account now."

Visit your email inbox and look for two new emails from Canvas Catalog (notifications@instructure.com). Click the email with the subject line "Welcome to Catalog".

This "Welcome to Catalog" email should confirm you've registered and ask you to set up a password for your new login ID. Click the blue Complete Registration button.

Step Four: Choose a Password for Your Canvas Account

On the "Welcome Aboard!" screen, enter your preferred password. Click the Register button to proceed.

Please save this password in a secure location so you can reference it later. You'll need it to log back into Canvas, if you switch browsers, or if you would like to log in from a different device.

Visit Your Canvas Course

Now that you've completed the initial account setup process, you can access your Canvas course (if the course has started and is published by your instructor). Click the blue Go To Course button to open your Canvas course.
